Canada Day and Memorial Day Holiday City Schedule

Due to the Canada Day and Memorial Day holiday on Saturday, July 1, most City offices and facilities including Access St. John’s front counter service will be closed on Monday, July 3.

Please note the following exceptions:

  • All recreation facilities will be open to the public on Monday.
  • The outdoor pools at Bannerman Park and Bowring Park will be open to the public starting on Sunday July 2; the splash pads are currently in operation 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Pool schedules are available online.
  • Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial users only on Monday.
  • Garbage and recycling will not be picked up on Monday. For this week only garbage for all areas will be the day after your regular pick up day; please see schedule below.
  • Parking meter regulations will be enforced as Monday is not a shops closing holiday.
  • The Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street will be open on Monday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • The Quidi Vidi Village Plantation at 10 Maple View Place is closed on Monday.

Road Closures and No Stopping - Tow Away Zones
For safety reasons there will be multiple road closures and no stopping zones throughout the City to facilitate Memorial Day and Canada Day events. Traffic advisories are posted on the City’s website, or you can sign up for e-Updates.
 
Park and Ride on Canada Day
The Sunrise Event and Wake up the Nation Breakfast shuttles will depart from Johnson Insurance Building on Factory Lane to Signal Hill and the Signal Hill Interpretation Centre from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. For the afternoon events and evening concert at Quidi Vidi Lake the shuttles will depart from the Confederation Building to Kings Bride Road starting at 1:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. For more details please visit www.metrobus.com/CanadaDay.
