St. John's Celebrates National Youth Week

The City of St. John's is celebrating National Youth Week from May 1 to 7 with multiple events including art shows, recreational activities and the annual Youth of the Year celebration.

The objective of National Youth Week is to celebrate youth and their active participation in the community whether it is through theatre, recreation, sport, art, volunteering, leadership or community engagement. All Youth Week events are free of charge.

Art Exhibit - Monday, May 2
The public are invited to view and enjoy works of art produced by youth from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Great Hall, City Hall.

Youth Carnival - Tuesday, May 3
Youth ages 12 to 18 are invited to join us at the Southlands Community Centre (40 Teakwood Drive) for a youth Carnival from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring a magician, Sky High Amusements, prizes and much more!

Free Swim - Saturday, May 7
Take the plunge and enjoy the youth swim at HGR Mews Community Centre from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. and/or at Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre from 8 to 8:50 p.m.

Congratulations to the 2016 Youth of the Year award winners Katherine Dibbon (Junior) and Nitish Bhatt (Senior) who attended City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 26 to officially proclaim National Youth Week in the City of St. John’s.
