The City of St. John’s is celebrating Seniors Day on Thursday, June 6.

“Seniors contribute so much to our community and we are delighted to be able to celebrate their contributions by offering this exciting afternoon of activities,” says Councillor Bruce Tilley, Council representative on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Seniors. “I hope seniors will come out and take part in this event which is focused on the theme “Live It Up” to encourage seniors to get active and live life to the fullest.”

The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Seniors is hosting an information sharing event in an effort to recognize seniors for their contributions to the City. The event at St. Teresa’s Parish Hall on Mundy Pond Road will take place from 12 p.m., noon to 4 p.m. This is the third year for Seniors Day in St. John’s.

The keynote speaker, Barry Green, is known as the ‘Unity Guy’. He delivers the message of L.O.V.E. as the force of life by shining a big mirror on ourselves and our ability to look within and live without. Barry is a college educator that creates conversations of substance and joy. Barry builds unity to help us all achieve excellence.

Other presentations throughout the afternoon include:

  • Seniors and housing transitions
  • Intergenerational programs for seniors
  • VON St. John’s programs
  • Involvement, participation and ambition are ageless!

Entertainment, refreshments and prize draws will also be part of this great event.

Seniors also ride free on Metrobus on June 6 in recognition of Seniors Day.
