City Hall Planned Power Outage: Impact on Services

On Friday, Sept. 27 a planned power outage at City Hall will impact City services until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. The City is working on a maintenance project and the outage is required for safety reasons.

Impacts to services will begin Friday at 4:30 p.m. until Sunday at 9 a.m. and include:

  • The City website stjohns.ca and Map Centre will not be available.
  • e-Updates (emails) sent to subscribers of City corporate communications posted on the website will not be sent while the website is offline.  
  • Electronic (debit and credit card) payments will not be accepted at any City facility for the duration of the outage. This includes all recreation facilities, Access St. John’s, and Humane Services. Recreation facilities and Humane Services will be open during regular hours and will be accepting cash payments.
  • The city’s RECconnect website will be available to residents via external link.
  • The City’s career opportunity site Njoyn will be available online via external link.
  • Slowdowns are expected at both inbound and outbound commercial scales at Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility, as weights will be recorded manually.
  • The City Hall parking garage will be closed for safety reasons related to the maintenance project.

During this planned outage residents can call Access St. John’s at 311 or 754-CITY (2489) for up to date information, questions or concerns. The city’s social media feeds will not be impacted.
