Due to the volume of snow forecasted for the coming week, the City of St. John’s is required to implement the on-street parking ban outside the downtown, and the Business District winter parking restriction as of 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019.

Typically, the City implements the parking ban in early January and had previously announced the ban date for this year as January 8, 2020. However, the forecast requires an early implementation.

While in effect;

  • On-street parking outside downtown is prohibited between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m. daily. Tickets will be issued while the ban is in effect, regardless of snow or street conditions.
  • The Business District winter parking restriction on sections of Water Street (Waldegrave Street to Prescott Street) and Duckworth Street (New Gower Street to Cochrane Street) is daily, regardless of conditions, from 4 to 6 a.m. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and/or towed.

The on-street winter parking ban is lifted when conditions are favourable, which often occurs in early April. All winter parking restrictions are listed on the City’s website please visit stjohns.ca/snow.
