City Manager to Retire in March

City Manager Neil Martin has announced plans to retire as of March 31, 2016.

An employee of the City for the past 29 years, Mr. Martin has been the City Manager since 2014. Prior to that, he held the position of Deputy City Manager, Corporate Services, and also the City Clerk. He has been battling cancer for the past five years.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my working experience at the City and I am proud of what Councillors and staff have accomplished together in my tenure as City Manager,” said Mr. Martin. “I now look forward to spending more time with my wife and family at our cottage. I thank everyone for their kind support and for respecting my desire for privacy at this time.”

“Neil has provided Council and staff with a steady hand at the tiller and excellent advice during his time as City Manager,” said Mayor Dennis O’Keefe. Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth added: “Neil has been a strategic leader and a sounding board for the ideas put forward by Council. All members of Council wish Neil continued strength and every success in the future.

Recruitment of a new City Manager will begin immediately.
