The City of St. John's is seeking nominations for the 24th Annual Tourism Awards, which will be presented in May during National Tourism Week.

The awards recognize our best in tourism, while also increasing public awareness about the industry as a strong and viable contributor to the St. John’s economy. The City presents six awards in a variety of categories to acknowledge the important contributions that members of the industry made to the local economy.

Residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to submit nominations to the City for consideration, should they know of an individual or organization that deserves to be recognized for a job well done.

The top category is the Legend Award, which recognizes an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to the growth and enhancement of tourism in the City of St. John’s. The Sport Tourism Award is being introduced for the first time this year and recognizes the best sporting event in the City. Other awards include the Event of the Year Award, Signal Award (cruise), Victoria Wagon Award (taxi driver) and Discovery Award (innovation).

In addition to the award presentation, Destination St. John’s (DSJ) will present the DSJ Award of Distinction.

Further details, criteria and nomination forms are available on the City’s website under Forms and Applications – Tourism.

Nominations close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
