Community Capital Grants Announced

Thursday, March 10, 2016 - 9:00 AM

City Council has approved contributions totaling in excess of $522,000 in the form of direct cash grants and the waiving of permit fees for five non-profit groups and organizations for 2016.

Annually, the City invites applications from community groups seeking financial assistance to construct, expand or renovate a facility that meets a demonstrated recreational, cultural or community service need.

“The projects being undertaken by organizations in our community are commendable, and worthy of both public and private support,” said Councillor Jonathan Galgay, Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance and Administration. “Our decisions on what to support and the size of the grant are based on a number of criteria, including the ability of the organization to manage the operating costs of the facility, the accessibility of the facility and how the project or organization is funded.

“We are very pleased to support these five worthy projects with a financial grant and by waiving their permit and development fees.”
