Council Statement: Mile One

On January 21, the Board of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment Ltd. completed their review of the consultant’s report on the implications of selling Mile One and forwarded their recommendations to Council.

Council has requested an opportunity to be briefed by the consultants, which is currently being scheduled. Following that briefing, the report and recommendations will be discussed at a Council meeting. At that time, the report and recommendations will be shared publicly via the City’s website.

Barring unforeseen complications, it is anticipated that the report will be public within the next three weeks.

On September 24, 2020, Council announced its plan to hire a consultant to explore the implications of privatizing Mile One. Since that time, Councillor Korab has been updating the public via media interviews on the timing of the release of the report.

“The Board of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment and I are pleased by the thoroughness of the report and we look forward to sharing it with the public in the next few weeks,” said Councillor Korab.
