Garbage put out at the curb for collection must be completely covered from April to November to reduce the amount of litter on streets, parks and open spaces.

Manual collection, bags at the curb
Acceptable covers include a net (maximum mesh size 1”x1”), a blanket, or metal or plastic containers with a lid.
All garbage bags (limit of 4) must be completely covered.

Automated collection, with garbage carts
The lid of the cart must be closed so that garbage bags are not sticking out of it when placed at the curb.

A reminder that waste is not permitted at the curb before 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day, and garbage coverings must be removed from the curb by 8 p.m. on collection day.
