COVID-19 Update: Recreation Programs and Services

Friday, February 04, 2022 - 10:00 AM

The recent Public Health COVID-19 update, moving to Alert Level 3, allows City of St. John’s to resume some recreation programs and services.

Effective Monday, February 7:

  • Amateur sport and recreation activities are limited to team practice and training only. Groups may proceed with their bookings provided they meet current public health guidelines. Competition and training with other teams is not permitted.
  • Racquetball at the HGR Mews Community Centre will resume.
  • Birthday Party rentals will resume with attendees limited to 20, as per health guidelines.

All other registered programs will begin Feb. 13, including adult, senior, children and youth programming.

Current health protocols require swim instructors and lifeguards maintain six feet of physical distance from participants except in emergencies. Therefore, children in swimming lessons Levels 1 to 4 will require a caregiver age 19+ to accompany them in the pool during the lesson.

The following programs will not proceed at this time:

  • Drop-in programs (pre-registration is required).
  • Special events (including seniors, youth)
  • Volunteer placements
  • Pre-school programs at community centres

Please note all missed classes and sessions will be credited back to your recreation account. Credits can be used for any Recreation program.
