Amadea and Silverwind in St.John's on May 8, 2019

Cruise ships Amadea and Silverwind began the 2019 cruise season in St. John’s as they entered through the Narrows with 900 passengers on Wednesday, May 8.

“This year we are scheduled to host 37 ship visits bringing approximately 42,000 passengers to the city, said Councillor Debbie Hanlon, lead for Cruise St. John’s. “The cruise industry continues to grow stronger as our city’s reputation for warm hospitality and unique cultural experiences bring more cruise lines to our harbour.”

Of the 37 ship visits this year there are 17 cruise lines represented, with 3 inaugural ship visits that will receive the Freedom of the Seaport through an onboard ceremony to commemorate their first visit to St. John’s. The Sapphire Princess will carry the most passengers of any cruise ship stopping in St. John’s this year, arriving in September, with 2,670 passengers.

A full list of all the cruise ships coming to port this season can be found on the City of St. John’s website at www.stjohns.ca/visiting-our-city/cruise-information/cruise-schedule.
