The City of St. John’s together with the St. John’s Port Authority and industry partners are pleased to announce the 2022 cruise season begins on June 12 with the arrival of the Ocean Endeavour.

“We are happy to welcome the Ocean Endeavour with approximately 195 passengers back safely to the Port City of St. John's. The Ocean Endeavour represents the return of cruises to our city following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Councillor Debbie Hanlon, Council Representative for Cruise Tourism.

This year 30 ships from 15 cruise lines are scheduled to arrive between June and October to experience all that St. John’s has to offer. Currently, there are eight inaugural ship visits planned to the Port of St. John’s. We will be having a dockside welcome ceremony for some ships with enhanced safety protocols starting with the arrival of the Insignia on Canada Day.

“Community, passenger and crew safety remains a top priority for the cruise ship industry, as it does for the members of our cruise community,” said Bob McCarthy, Vice President of Development, St. John’s Port Authority.

Cruise ships that visit our port are required to abide by all provincial, Public Health Agency of Canada and Transport Canada safety guidelines. All passengers and crew visiting St. John’s must be fully vaccinated. They are also required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 to 72 hours of boarding a cruise ship, providing safety for all on board.

Parking Impact
The public is reminded that parking is limited on Harbour Drive during cruise ship visits to accommodate tour operators and other passenger transportation. However, City parking remains available in other areas throughout the Downtown except for the pedestrian mall area on Water Street. Alternate parking options also include Parking Garage at 351 Water Street, 330 Duckworth (Metro Park), and 1 Clift’s Baird’s Cove (Sonco Parking). It is important to note the parking restrictions in these areas when parking, as they may differ from City restrictions or other locations.

A full list of all the cruise ships coming to port this season can be found on the City of St. John’s website.
