Day Camp Registration Begins June 11

Wednesday, June 10, 2020 - 9:30 AM

The City of St. John’s is registering for day camps on June 11, 2020. Citizens are reminded to ensure their RecConnect Account is updated with current information and are advised to wish list programs of interest.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and will take place:

  • Online: via stjohns.ca/RECconnect
  • By telephone: 709-576-8499
  • In-person registration is not available at this time.

Due to public health restrictions, the City will be providing a reduced offering of day camps. Registration for camps is restricted to between 15 and 20 participants, and camps will be offered from the following locations:

  • Paul Reynolds Community Centre
  • Bowring Park Pool House
  • Kilbride Community Centre
  • Shea Heights Community Centre
  • Kenmount Terrace Community Centre
  • Southlands Community Centre
  • Rotary “Sunshine Park”
  • H.G.R Mews Community Centre

We encourage parents/guardian to waitlist for programs if they are unsuccessful in securing a space on registration day. As public health restrictions are reduced our program offerings may increase, allowing us to accommodate waitlisted individuals.

Participants wishing to register for our programs must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined by recently released Provincial Public Health Guidelines. Everyone – including staff, children, parents/guardians, delivery persons and guest speakers must be proactively screened for COVID-19 symptoms, travel history, and contact with person(s) who may have COVID-19 prior to EACH time they enter the day camp premises.

The provincial government advises that participants in day camps be fully toilet trained and able to feed themselves independently. It is also recommended that those considered particularly vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19 or who have family members considered vulnerable in this way use discretion in availing of day camp programs

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to be familiar with the provinces Summer Day Camp Guidelines to make informed decisions. Parents can also visit the city’s website for participant information packages and FAQ’s regarding the camp program.
