Downtown Holiday Market Cancelled

Monday, November 23, 2020 - 11:45 AM

Today, City Council decided to cancel the Downtown Holiday Market event that was being planned for December 5-6 and December 12-13 due to increasing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Provincial government officials are asking residents and organizations to be vigilant in response to changes in the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mayor Danny Breen. “Due to increasing concerns for health and safety of the public we have decided to cancel the Downtown Holiday Market. Gatherings and events are not recommended at this time. The City is taking the direction from the Chief Medical Officer of Health very seriously.”

Residents are reminded that stores, restaurants, and businesses operating downtown continue to need your support and are open for business during the holiday season.

A decision on the City’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks will be made by Monday, December 14.
