As part of Winter Walk Month, the City of St. John’s encourages residents to go outside and get active during nationally celebrated Winter Walk Day, today, Wednesday February 2.

Winter can be celebrated on foot or on wheels, using skis, snowshoes or adaptive equipment.  Residents can visit The Loop in Bannerman Park and enjoy free ice skating, or when snow conditions allow for trails to re-open, residents can visit the Winter Activity Centre in Pippy Park to participate in snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

The City’s Inclusive Services division helps improve year-round access to parks and trails with the adaptive equipment lending program. To reserve accessible equipment such as Hippocampe All-Terrain Wheelchair, Sit Ski, Ice Sledge or Snow Coach Adapted Slide, please email inclusion@stjohns.ca, or call 576-6972.

Journey outside this February and share your activities and adventures on social media using hashtags #WinterWalkDay #JourneyOutside.

Please respect all COVID-19 public health guidelines when visiting City parks and facilities.
