During the Pedestrian Mall event this year, the BlindSquare Event app was piloted in partnership with the CNIB. The app is designed for individuals with low vision or blindness, or any person who may benefit from a wayfinding tool to navigate the Pedestrian Mall safely. To provide your feedback and for more information visit EngageStJohns.ca.

The BlindSquare Event app provides accessible navigation and wayfinding with self-voicing technology that delivers detailed information for points of interest for safe, reliable travel for individuals with sight loss.

The City is looking for feedback from users and potential users of the BlindSquare Event app through the public engagement process including a focus group and an online survey.

Once feedback is collected and evaluated, it will be determined whether it should be included in future pedestrian mall events, or other City initiatives where the tool may be useful to participants.

The app is a result of the City’s commitment to improve the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and other City events to make them more accessible.
