Fines for Parking Violations are Increased

As part of Budget 2021, fines for parking violations were increased. Amendments to several city by-laws were required before these increases could come into effect.

Effective immediately (Friday Jan 15 at 2 p.m.)* parking fine increases are as follows:

  • A pay by phone/pay station parking ticket has increased from $30 to $50
  • A parking ticket for violating the Snow Clearing By-Law (including the various winter parking bans) has increased from $55 to $75 
  • Street cleaning violations increased from $30 to $40 
  • All parking offences for which the fine was $50 has increased to $60
  • All parking offences for which the fine was $60 has increased to $75 

Information about Winter Parking Restrictions is at stjohns.ca/snow. When parking in the downtown, look for signs to indicate if paid parking or a permit is required.
