Flood Repair Update

There has been a significant amount damage to roads, parks, trails and private property throughout the City of St. John’s following the rain event on Sunday, Jan. 30.

Residents are asked to allow for extra time when commuting as city crews continue to assess damage and make repairs to various streets, parks and trails.

Please report unmarked potential hazards on or near City property to Access St. John’s by calling 311 or 754-CITY (2489), or online.
 
Roads
Lanes are reduced on many streets due to debris and damaged roads; the public are advised to proceed with caution, especially in area where construction or repair work is ongoing. Road closures and traffic impacts are updated on the city’s website under public advisories.
 
Walking Trails
Rennie’s River trail system between Portugal Cove Road and King’s Bridge Road is closed and requires substantial repairs. It is estimated that this section of trail will be closed for several weeks due to washouts and damage to the boardwalk.
 
All Grand Concourse Authority (GCA) trails in the City are being inspected to determine suitability for use. Some trail sections are closed due to damage, and cautionary signage is being placed in various areas. Temporary repairs are ongoing as weather permits.
