Housing Catalyst Fund Recipients Announced
The 2022 recipients of the City of St. John’s and Community Housing Transformation Centre’s Housing Catalyst Fund were announced during Committee of the Whole meeting today, with five grants totaling $110,000.
“Safe and affordable housing is essential to the health of our community,” said Councillor Ophelia Ravencroft, Council Lead for Affordable Housing. “The Housing Catalyst Fund allows the City to financially support community groups in the important work they are doing. We are very grateful to the Community Housing Transformation Centre for partnering with us as we work together to create affordable housing solutions throughout the city.”
“The Centre is proud to contribute to these transformative projects in St. John’s. By working together with our partners at the City, we collectively increase the impact of our efforts and the resources available to housing providers,” said Hope Jamieson, Program Manager for Newfoundland and Labrador at the Centre. “While the projects themselves are diverse, they share a common thread: increasing the supply of affordable housing in St. John’s. This is consistent with the Centre’s mission of supporting a vibrant and growing community housing sector. We are dedicated to nurturing partnerships like the Catalyst Fund to help the sector meet the ever-expanding needs of our community.”
Five grants totaling $110,000 are awarded for 2022:
- Anglican Homes - $30,000
- St. John’s Status of Women Council/Women’s Centre - $30,000
- Gathering Place - $20,000
- Stella’s Circle - $20,000
- Hospitality NL - $10,000

Providing Housing Catalyst grants for affordable housing projects is a goal of the Affordable Housing Strategy 2019-2028, a ten-year plan to address our municipality’s housing needs, developed with the vision of working in-step with partners, stakeholders and residents to create and maintain safe, suitable, and affordable housing throughout the city.
