Coming to you next week, live from 81 Higgins Line, St. John’s… it’s the A-Cat-emy Awards!

The A-Cat-emy Awards is a week-long animal adoption event, with a fun twist.  Adoption fees at Humane Services will be reduced from $120 to $20, and visitors to the shelter will also have the opportunity to play ‘head or tails’ and win a chance to adopt a new furry friend for free.

“We had great success during our last adoption event in the fall, with over 80 cats adopted to loving homes,” said Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth.  “With the shelter nearing capacity once again, it’s critical that we find new homes for the cats and kittens that currently live at the shelter.  Kitten season is just around the corner and we have new animals coming in on a daily basis.”

Humane Services staff has renamed the shelter cats in honour of the upcoming ‘red carpet’ event, meaning that you and your family can bring home your own Steve Catrell, Catley Cooper, or Julianne Meowre.

All cool media cats are welcome to attend.

Humane Services hours of operation:
Monday, Feb. 23 from noon to 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb 24 to Friday, Feb. 27 from noon to 4 p.m.
Sat, Feb 28 to Sun, March 1 from 3 to 5 p.m.
