dog gets a microchip

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, Humane Services is hosting a microchip clinic for privately owned pets (cats and dogs) of St. John’s residents.

This microchip clinic is the first of what will be a monthly clinic held the third Wednesday afternoon of each month, and follows from the pilot clinic held in June 2016 which was booked to capacity within six hours of announcement.

The clinic takes place at the Animal Care & Adoption Centre, 81 Higgins Line, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Each appointment takes approximately 10 minutes at a cost of $35 per animal, payable when the appointment is reserved. Dogs licensed with the City of St. John’s are eligible to be microchipped; to learn about licensing your dog check the City website.

Residents wishing to part take in the clinic are required to pre-book appointments via the City’s RECconnect system. Residents who don’t already have a RECconnect account can create one:

  • online;
  • by calling 576-8499; or,
  • by visiting the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, 40 Mundy Pond Road.

The City of St. John's is providing this microchip clinic at an affordable cost to residents so that lost pets can be reunited with their owners as quickly as possible upon arrival to our animal shelter.

For further details on this event, please contact Access St. John’s by calling 311 or 709-754-CITY (2489) or online.
