On the direction of the Mayor, the City Solicitor has hired an independent investigator to look into an allegation of harassment against a member of Council by a former employee of the City of St. John’s.

“The allegation was brought to my attention on Thursday, October 13. As per our Workplace Human Rights By-law and on the advice of the City Solicitor, I directed that we hire an independent, external investigator,” explained Mayor Dennis O’Keefe. “The City takes allegations of harassment seriously, and we will cooperate fully with the investigation.”

Until such time as the investigation has been completed, to protect the former employee, the member of Council and the integrity of the investigation itself, the City will provide no further comment on this matter.
