Information for Residents during Extreme Weather

For updates on traffic interruptions and road closures, residents can sign up for traffic advisory e-updates here, or check the city’s website under Public Advisory.

If you encounter a road or sidewalk hazard such as a downed tree, object, or a power line, it is important that you stay away from the area.

  • Report any road hazard to the City by contacting Access St. John’s at 311 or 754-CITY (2489), or online.
  • Downed power lines, outages or poles can be reported directly to Newfoundland Power online or by phone 1-800-474-5711.

Residents are asked to allow for extra time when commuting and avoid unnecessary travel during extreme weather.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department has released safety tips to help residents stay safe during a power outage, details are online.
