Since 1992 The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) has been working to promote action and raise awareness about disability issues and draw attention to the benefits of an inclusive and accessible society for all. The City of St. John's celebrates IDPD. In recognition of this years theme; "Inclusion Matters: Access and Empowerment for People of all Abilities - Making our City Inclusive and Accessible for all", please see the following activities:

Wednesday, Dec. 2 
A free Sensational Playgroup session for children ages birth to 6 years who have extra sensory needs. Families and/or caregivers/support workers welcome. A light, healthy snack will be provided.
10 to 11:30 a.m.
Southlands Community Centre, 40 Teakwood Drive

Thursday, Dec. 3
A free Adapted Swim for swimmers with disabilities, their families and/or caregivers/support workers
3 to 3:50 p.m.
H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, 40 Mundy Pond Road

A free Public Awareness Session: Think Twice Anti Stigma/ Mental Health Education Program
Facilitator: Grant Fitzpatrick of CMHANL
7 to 8 p.m.
Swilers Rugby Club, 100 Crosbie Road

Monday, Dec. 7
Awareness Session for Employers and Human Resource Professionals
How to Include More Persons with Disabilities in Your Workplace. 
Facilitator: Randy Lewis, Senior Vice President Supply Chain and Logistics, Walgreens

Cost: $75
Light Lunch will be provided.
