Lunchtime Concert Series Expanding

Wednesday, April 29, 2015 - 2:30 PM

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Music at Harbourside concert series, the City of St. John’s is expanding the program to other venues throughout the city.

“We’re delighted to present concerts at the Quidi Vidi Village Plantation and at the newly revitalized Bannerman Park, as well as continuing with our Friday lunchtime summer concerts at Harbourside Park in 2015,” says Councillor Bernard Davis, chair of the Community Services and Housing subcommittee.

The inaugural Quidi Vidi Village Plantation Concert will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 2 and features the STEP Fiddlers as the opening youth act, and the Atlantic String Trio as the main act. Subsequent concerts are scheduled at the Plantation for 2 p.m. on Saturdays, May 23 and June 13.

The Bannerman Park Concerts are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sundays, July 12, August 23 and September 13.

The Music at Harbourside Lunchtime Concert Series takes place 12:30 p.m. on Fridays, beginning July 3 and continuing through September 18.

“City Council understands the need to showcase our community’s overwhelming musical talent to residents and visitors alike, and we’ve been doing that for more than 10 years with free concerts such as Music at Harbourside,” says Councillor Davis. “This is also our fifth year partnering with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society to present amazing youth performers for our opening acts.”

As details of the concerts become available they will be posted to the City website calendar of events and social media accounts.
