Many Ways to Contact the City, Including a New App

Monday, October 20, 2014 - 3:00 PM

The City of St. John’s has launched a new way to connect with the City – an app for iPhones called ‘311 St. John’s’.

The app is a convenient way to report problems such as a parking meter malfunction, missing street signs, or to make requests including to empty overflowing waste bins.

“The primary benefit of the app for residents is they are able to report problems or concerns when and where they notice them,” said Councillor Bernard Davis, Chair of the Community Services and Housing standing committee. “The ability to attach a picture and give exact GPS coordinates helps us to better examine or tackle the issue as we know exactly where it is coming from and what it is.”

The 311 St. John’s app is the newest way, but not the only way, residents can contact the City.

The Access St. John’s service centre is available:

  • online via web submission at www.stjohns.ca/access-311;
  • by phone at 311 or 754-CITY (2489); and
  • in person from Mondays to Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first floor of City Hall.

“I encourage residents with iPhones to download the free 311 St. John’s app through the App Store and to give it a try,” said Councillor Davis. “I also want to direct residents with computer access to the online web submission option, which can be found on our website at www.stjohns.ca/access-311.”
