Memorial Day and Canada Day City Schedule

Due to the holiday on Fri. July 1, all City offices and facilities will be closed.

Please note the following:

  • Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Friday. Collection for Area 5 will take place on Sat. July 2. See schedule below.
  • Robin Hood Bay Waste Management facility is closed to residential and commercial users.
  • All City parking by-laws are still in effect, however paid parking regulations will not be enforced as Friday is a Shops Closing holiday.
  • The Visitor Information Centre at 348 Water Street is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Public washrooms will be open at Bannerman Park, Bowring Park, Kenmount Park and Quidi Vidi Lake.
  • Outdoor swimming pools at Bannerman Park and Bowring Park, and the splash pads at Bowring Park, Bannerman Park and Kenmount Park will open on July 2, see details

Memorial Day Parade and Service
The Royal Canadian Legion Newfoundland and Labrador Command Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Sergeants’ Memorial on Queens Road at 9:50 a.m. The Memorial Day ceremony takes places at 10:45 a.m. at the National War Memorial. For more information about the ceremony please contact Provincial Command by calling 753-1054. Road Closures and no-parking areas will be in place, details are available in the traffic advisory.
