National Tree Day: A Community Celebration

Friday, September 15, 2017 - 11:00 AM

On Wednesday, Sept. 27 the City of St. John's and partners will celebrate National Tree Day with a tree planting ceremony and BBQ at the Bowring Park Bungalow beginning at 11 a.m., all are welcome to attend. This event will go ahead rain or shine.

National Tree Day is a celebration for Canadians to appreciate the great benefits that trees provide us - clean air, wildlife habitat, reducing energy demand and connecting with nature.

The City plants 400 to 500 trees annually to diversify the urban forest so it is more sustainable and less prone to disease or infestation.

National Tree Day is celebrated with partners including the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Clean St. John’s, Tree Canada, the Bowring Park Foundation, McInnes Cooper, Wildland Associates Limited and Newfoundland Power.
