Many neighbourhood volunteers are willing to look out for one another’s interests, through Neighbourhood Watch. This is a free community-based crime prevention program that helps to bringing neighbours together to be alert to the potential of crime in their area and steps they can take to help prevent crime.

Supporting these dedicated resident volunteers behind the scenes is the City of St. John’s Neighbourhood Watch team with Jennifer McGrath, Neighbourhood Services with City of St. John’s, and Constable Nick Cashin, Community Services with Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC). Together they have almost thirty years’ experience in crime prevention and are ready to help you get a Neighbourhood Watch started in your area.

Constable Cashin
Constable Cashin, who is in his 15th year of service with the RNC, has a background in Patrol Services, Criminal Investigation Division, Communications, and Community Services. Thus, he is more than ready to answer your questions and add value by bringing the police perspective to Neighbourhood Watch.

Jennifer McGrath
Jennifer has worked in community development within challenged communities, both at home and abroad, for many years and is passionate about connecting people and neighbourhoods to support development of a safer and more engaged city. Jennifer is ready with information for you and wants to help remove any barriers that you feel may get in the way of your Neighbourhood Watch development.
