In the coming days, the city will begin the installation of new pay stations on sections of Water Street and Duckworth Street. The new pay stations will have multiple payment options including most credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment. Due to the high incidence of vandalism the City has experienced on parking meters in the past, the new pay stations will not accept cash.

“I am pleased to announce that the first lot of pay stations have arrived and the installation will begin immediately in the downtown core,” said Councillor Debbie Hanlon. “This is welcome news especially for the businesses that require a steady turn over in parking spaces for their customers.”

A total of 24 pay stations will be installed on Water Street between Queen Street and Ayre’s Cove, and on Duckworth Street between Prescott Street and Cochrane Street, servicing approximately 90 parking spaces. After the installation, paid parking will be enforced in these areas starting Monday, November 16, 2020. A map of areas that require payment for parking is available here.

“As the new stations are installed, we are also expanding the PaybyPhone app option to the same areas,” said Councillor Hanlon. “Motorists are encouraged to look for signage when parking and consider downloading the PaybyPhone app, as this service will continue to expand in the future.”

Please note that the Timed Parking Areas will be maintained on streets that are not yet serviced by the pay stations or PaybyPhone.
