New Years Holiday City Schedule and Closures

Residents are advised that due to the New Years Day holidays all City offices and facilities, including the Visitor and Business Information Centres, Access St. John’s front counter service, recreation facilities and the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility, will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and will remain closed all day on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. The next City Council meeting will occur on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

The Access St. John’s Call Centre is available to residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, via telephone at 311 or (709) 754-CITY (2489) and online at www.stjohns.ca/access-311.

Exceptions to these closures are as follows:

Parking
Parking meter regulations will be enforced until noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Parking Meter Regulations will not be enforced on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 as this is an observed holiday under the Provincial Shop Closing Act.

Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule
Residents are reminded that garbage and recyclables are not permitted to be put out for collection before 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day but must be out by 8 a.m.

Monday, Dec. 30 – Garbage 5A, 5B, 1A and 1B; Recycling 5A and 1B
Tuesday, Dec. 31 – Garbage 2A and 2B; Recycling 2B
Wednesday, Jan. 1 – No collection
Thursday, Jan. 2 – Garbage3A, 3B, 4A and 4B; Recycling 3B and 4B
Friday, Jan. 3 – Garbage 5A and 5B; Recycling 5B

Recreation Facilities
On Tuesday, Dec. 31 the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre and Wedgewood Park Recreation Centre are open from 7 a.m. to noon. All other recreation facilities are closed.

Humane Services Adoption Centre
The Humane Services Adoption Centre at 81 Higgins Line is closed all day on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
