Nominations Open for Building Healthy Communities Volunteer Award

The City of St. John’s values the contributions of its volunteers and the impact that they have on the community.

The Building Healthy Communities Award recognizes individuals or groups who make St. John’s a better place to live, learn, work and play through their volunteer work.

Nominees must be St. John’s residents and can be of any age. Awards are open in three categories – youth, community group and adult/senior award. All achievements reflected in the nomination must be voluntary/unpaid in nature.

Volunteer service must improve the quality of life and well-being of citizens based on how they contribute to one or several, of the following ‘Healthy Community’ categories:

  • Healthy Neighbourhoods and People
  • Social and Community Connections
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Transportation
  • Inclusion
  • Housing 

The City is now accepting award nominations for the Building Healthy Communities Volunteer Award under the St. John’s Applause Awards Program. This awards program combines the City’s individual awards like the Legend award under one banner to celebrate outstanding contributions and achievements of individuals and organizations.
