Climate change is the biggest challenge of our generation.

As part of the City’s goal to address this important issue, the public are invited to participate in a virtual session on Thursday, November 19 from 6 -7:30 p.m. to provide input into the city’s Resilient St. John’s Climate Plan.

This session will provide an opportunity for people to participate in a community conversation and to learn about climate change and to provide personal experiences, perceptions and ideas to the planning process.

The online meeting will be conducted using Microsoft Teams. Participants may download Teams to their laptop, PC, tablet or phone or simply join the meeting from a link once your registration is confirmed.

The Resilient St. John’s Climate Plan focuses on this sustainability issue by addressing energy and climate change impacts. The plan will identify a 30-year Climate Action Strategy to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, while re-enforcing efforts to stabilize energy costs by supporting energy efficiency. It will also provide strategies to further prepare the City to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the impacts from climate change.

The public can also participate in the discussion at engagestjohns.ca to share their vision of a Resilient St. John's. The engagement page includes useful background information, quick polls, and a mapping tool to identify any hazards you may have experienced in the past.
