Properly dispose of your pumpkin after Halloween – not in the garbage!

Pumpkins are between 80% and 90% water, are easily compostable and contain many nutrients that are great for your lawn or garden. Before composting pumpkins remove any light sources or non-organic decorations first.

Compost your pumpkin:

  • Put in a paper yard waste bag and place at the curb on your recycling day.
  • In your backyard compost bin
  • Directly on your lawn or in your garden

Pumpkin Walk
The City of St. John’s Pumpkin Walk is a Halloween-themed event for the entire family, and all pumpkins are composted afterwards.

Drop off your carved pumpkin:
8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 2
Bannerman Park

After the event all pumpkins will be composted along with other yard waste at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.
