SJRFD: Deputy Chief of Support Services Appointed

St. John’s Regional Fire Department Fire Chief Sherry Colford is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Deputy Chief of Support Services.

Deputy Chief Paul Chaytor joined the Department in June 1994 and has served in several positions within the Department during his 28-year career, including Firefighter, Fire Lieutenant, and his recent position as Platoon Chief. He served on a number of specialty teams including High Angle/Helicopter Rescue, Confined Space, HazMat and Surface Water Rescue. He has completed studies in Fire Service Leadership and a certificate in Fire Service Administration. As head of the Support Services Division, Deputy Chief.

Chaytor will oversee the Divisions of Training, Fire Prevention and 911 Communication.

“Deputy Chief Chaytor has been an exemplary member of this Department for 28 years, and he will be a great asset to the Support Services Division in moving our Department forward in many ways. He is well-respected among his peers and I thank him for his continued service to this Department and to the public”, says Chief Colford.

Deputy Chief Chaytor will assume his new role effective Monday, Sept. 19, 2022.
