Spring Clean-up and Park Maintenance

Staff in the City’s Parks and Open Spaces division have been busy cleaning up city streets, parks and open spaces since early April. To date, litter has been collected from approximately 95 public green spaces and roads.

Spring work to prepare playgrounds, parks, sports facilities, trails and open spaces for summer use will continue throughout May.

Highlights include:

• Repair and maintenance ongoing at 130 playgrounds, 23 sports facilities, parks, trails and open spaces.
• Garbage bins are being re-installed in public spaces where they were removed for winter months.
• Trail repairs are ongoing to address damage that occurred during winter. 

Clean St. John’s
Clean St. John’s is a community organization committed to creating and promoting a litter-free city through action, advocacy, education, and recognition. At a recent City Council meeting on May 2, the Chair of Clean St. John’s and City Council kicked off the start of the ‘Pick it up for YYT Clean-up Campaign’. Street Cleaning
Spring and summer street cleaning began on Mon. May 2 and occurs throughout the City until September 23. For residents that live and work in the downtown core, street cleaning is scheduled at night. Vehicles must be removed from designated streets between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., see PSA for details.
