St.John’s Regional Fire Department opens Paradise Fire Station No. 8

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) will begin operation of the newly constructed Paradise Fire Station No. 8 at 1565 Topsail Road effective 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 16.

“On behalf of the City of St. John’s I am pleased to announce that the St. John’s Regional Fire Department has expanded to include the new Paradise Fire Station No. 8,” said Dennis O’Keefe, Mayor of the City of St. John’s. “This new facility will further enhance protection for families and business throughout the region.”

SJRFD is responsible for providing the region with an acceptable level of fire and emergency protection in the most economical manner, with backup emergency services being provided to a number of surrounding towns in the Northeast Avalon Region.

“The Town of Paradise receives great fire and emergency response service from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department and we have appreciated working collaboratively to bring Paradise Fire Station No. 8 to realization,” said Dan Bobbett, Mayor, Town of Paradise. “The fire and emergency services in Paradise are now further enhanced with the opening of Paradise Fire Station No. 8.”

The Grand Opening Ceremony for the new station will be scheduled in the fall when residents will be invited to tour the new facility, view the equipment, and meet the staff.

Built upon a strong foundation of excellence in fire service delivery, the entire compliment of the SJRFD continues to work toward improving capability and capacity to enhance service to the region.
