Next week the City of St. John’s is celebrating National Child Day.

The Government of Canada designated November 20 as National Child Day to commemorate the adoption and convention of the rights of the child. It’s a day to celebrate the rights of children everywhere, to help them live happy, healthy lives so that each child may reach their full potential.

This year, the City of St. John’s is celebrating the Right to Learn with a variety of events and activities for children and families throughout the week.

On Monday, Nov. 16 Mayor O’Keefe and City Councillors will be joined at City Hall by the winners of the Meet the Mayor contest. The two winners will receive prizes, meet the Mayor and City staff, receive a tour of some City facilities and will read the proclamation for National Child Day during the weekly Council meeting.

Special activities are taking place throughout the week of November 16 to 22. All families are encouraged to participate.
