Timed Parking Area Changes for Churchill Square

Timed Parking Area signage is being updated in Churchill Square to address parking issues and concerns from businesses and clients, and to encourage vehicle turn over.

In early December, Council approved changes to reduce two-hour and four-hour timed parking sections to one-hour and two-hours, respectively.

Enforcement of the new signage will begin on January 10, 2022. See map attached.

Previously, timed parking signage in Churchill Square didn’t include the specification of an ‘Area’. This made it more burdensome to enforce, and space turnover wasn’t achieved.

With the additional Area information on the signs, motorists must leave the Area to re-set the timing. Vehicles cannot move within the same designated Area to re-set the clock. For example, a vehicle parked in the two-hour Area 1 at 8 a.m. must vacate the area by 10 a.m. and may not return to the same area until 12 p.m., after two hours have passed. They can move to another Area, such as Area 2, 3 or 4.

In all locations where public parking is available, motorists need to look for signs when parking to indicate the restrictions.
