‘Together’ Photography Exhibit in Wyatt Hall

Friday, June 07, 2019 - 10:30 AM

A new photography exhibit by the Association for New Canadians (ANC) is on display at City Hall in the Wyatt Hall until Thursday, June 27.

‘Together: A Day on the Town’ documents the first visit of ANC students to some of St. John’s most popular destinations and sites.

“The City of St. John’s values the role of the multicultural community and strives to ensure St. John’s is a welcoming and healthy place for everyone to live,” explained Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary. “It was a foggy, drizzly day in May when this photographic field trip occurred and by contrast, these colourful portraits depict a powerful exploration of identity and a sense of place.”

"The Association for New Canadians is delighted to partner with the City of St. John's again this year,” said Megan Morris, Executive Director of the Association for New Canadians. “Each year the Association helps to resettle some 200 refugees and many more immigrants who have chosen to make St. John’s their home and it’s wonderful to see popular places in St. John’s through the eyes of new community members.”

The exhibit is on display in the Wyatt Hall until Thursday, June 27 and available for public viewing weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A reception will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20 to celebrate the exhibit.
