Today the City of St. John’s released the ‘What we Heard’ document following a public engagement process conducted in late 2015. The document reflects key themes from the consultation process.

The Torbay Road Area Transportation Study was launched last November in response to the increased transportation demands in the Torbay Road/Stavanger Drive area. The goals of the study include:

  • Understanding existing transportation issues
  • Understanding projected transportation needs
  • Evaluation of alternative solutions to issues and needs
  • Recommendations for a set of solutions

So far, the public engagement process has included:

  • Online engagement at engagestjohns.ca with a discussion form and survey
  • Two public sessions; a Community Consultation and a Business Consultation

Feedback received during this process has been categorized into eleven themes. The next steps for the study include: completing the technical evaluations; discussing options with provincial government and Metrobus; and, meeting with residents in the Hussey Drive area.

A final report is expected this spring.  Additional information about these themes and other details from the engagement process are available in the 'What we Heard' document.
