The City of St. John’s is undertaking a new transportation study in the Torbay Road/Stavanger Drive area. The study is a follow up to the Torbay Road North Commercial Area Traffic Impact Study that the City conducted in January 2007. One recommendation from this study was to re-evaluate transportation infrastructure once the commercial area had expanded significantly.

“Torbay Road is a gateway into St. John's and many people live in residential communities adjacent to the Stavanger Drive area,” said Ward 1 Councillor Danny Breen, Chair of the Public Works Standing Committee. “As business activity has progressed, there are increased transportation demands on the roads in this area.”

The study is being carried out by the City with assistance from consulting firm WSP.

“As we conduct this study, getting the perspectives of residents and business owners in the area is extremely important,” said Councillor Breen. “We have put a number of methods in place to allow people to participate in person and online.”

If you travel in the Torbay Road, Stavanger Drive, or Aberdeen Avenue areas, the City wants to hear what you have to say.
