The City of St. John's scored 4 Blooms out of a possible 5 Blooms in a recent audit conducted by Communities in Bloom, a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with focus on enhancing green spaces in communities.

According to the evaluators, the City is well positioned to fully participate in the program in the future.

The evaluation is based on eight criteria in six sections:

  • Tidiness
  • Environmental Action
  • Heritage Conservation
  • Urban Forestry
  • Landscape
  • Floral Displays.

The revitalization of Bannerman Park earned honourable mention, and the staff in the Parks Division were commended for their skills and knowledge.
