Tropical Storm Leslie Clean-up Program

Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 9:45 PM

Residents of St. John's are advised that a special drop-off and collection service has been set up for the disposal of trees, branches and other items damaged by Tropical Storm Leslie.

Drop-off Locations - Trees and Branches
The City has set up three locations for drop-off of trees and branches only:

- Quidi Vidi Lake West Parking Lot (off the Boulevard east of the Legion Road intersection)
- Wishingwell Park (off Empire Avenue east of Stamp's Lane)
- Bowring Park West Parking Lot (off Waterford Bridge Road west of Cowan Avenue)

Only trees and/or branches may be dropped off at these temporary sites. Please do not box or bag the debris and do not drop off any garbage or bulk items at these locations. Residents interested in taking materials from these sites for firewood or other re-use purposes are welcome to do so.

Collection Service for Trees and Branches
A free curbside collection service is available by contacting Access St. John's at 311 of 754-CITY (2489) to register. Trees and branches must be cut in manageable-sized pieces (maximum length is 6 feet) and placed at the curb for collection. Do not box or bag debris. Due to the large volume of debris the City is unable to determine the exact time your collection will occur.

Collection Service for Other Storm Related Items
A free curbside collection service is available for household and other items (i.e. fences, decks, siding, etc.) damaged by the storm. This service does not include building materials (these should be disposed of by your contractor). Metals must be separated from other items for a separate collection so the metals can be recycled. Please contact Access St. John's at 311 or 754-CITY (2489) to register.

Robin Hood Bay Waste Regional Management Facility
In addition to the special services offered above, residents may dispose of trees, branches, household and other items at the Residential Drop-Off facility at Robin Hood Bay free of charge. Hours of operation are Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
