Construction to build a pump track on the grounds of Quidi Vidi Park has changed to start later in the summer. Construction is expected to begin in August after the Royal St. John’s Regatta and is anticipated to be complete in October.

The City had to revise the start of construction for the recreational pump track due to scheduling adjustments needed to accommodate the scope of work. This project is still a high priority to be complete this year. The location of the pump track is in the green space near the existing dog park on The Boulevard.

The construction zone starting in the month of August will be fenced off with no public access to the area during this period. Heavy equipment will require occasional access to The Boulevard, please use caution in the area and obey all posted signage. Public access will be maintained to the dog park, walking trail and parking area. A map of the construction area is available here.

Pump tracks provide recreation opportunities and are used to develop biking and riding skills for all ages and abilities. They are suitable for scooters, skateboards and wheelchairs. The project was first announced last year as a community-led initiative with the Avalon Mountain Bike Association. An image of the pump track design is available here.

Further details on the official opening of the new pump track will be provided after construction is complete. To report issues, residents can contact Access St. John’s by calling 311 or 754-CITY, or online.
