The City has been made aware of an irregularity in the voters list for the Ward 4 byelection that has resulted in ballots being mailed to a number of households outside the voting area.

In preparing the voter’s list, a number of addresses near the Ward 4 boundary or with similar names to streets within the Ward were inadvertently included.

This was captured by City staff who are quickly working to address the error.

If residents outside Ward 4 vote in the election, their ballots will be captured by the electronic system and discarded, as the addresses on the system have been verified by City Elections staff.

All candidates have been notified, and the error will have no impact on the outcome of the election.

Residents who receive a ballot and are unsure as to whether or not they live in Ward 4, the City’s website includes a Ward look-up feature. Alternatively, residents call Access St. John’s at 311 or 754-CITY or the elections office at 576-8269.
