Bigbelly solar waste container for paper and container recyclables, and garbage that is compacted by solar-power

The City of St. John's has placed a Bigbelly solar garbage & recycling container at Holdsworth Court, on the corner of George Street and Adelaide Street.

The neat thing about Bigbelly solar containers is that they compact the garbage which helps prevent the container from overflowing, and is a great way to reduce litter. The compactor is solar operated and as long as there is light - it does not need sunshine, just daylight - the battery will be recharged.

Once the container is full an email is sent to the garbage & recycling foreperson letting him/her know that it is time to be emptied. When was the last time you received an email from your waste container?!

The Big Belly solar is rodent proof and is a great way to keep our city cleaner. Learn more about the Bigbelly containers on their website
