'What We Heard' on Strategic Planning Process Available Online

The City of St. John’s has released a summary document of ‘What We Heard’ through the public engagement process around developing a new strategic plan.

Following the release of the Citizen Satisfaction Survey results in May, the City began the process of engaging with the community on a new strategic plan. Community events and online engagement on the survey results, combined with feedback gathered from the City’s engagement page resulted in the emergence of four key themes:

Mobility - how we move and get around
Connectivity - how we connect with one another and how we connect with the city
Sustainability - how we sustain the city, financially, environmentally, economically
Effectiveness and Performance - how the city performs and delivers programs and services

City Council and staff will now determine the strategic directions based on what we heard through the survey, public engagement results, and an internal assessment of organizational needs. The final strategic plan will be released in January 2019 with annual, public reporting.

Attention will now turn to developing the goals and activities to advance these directions, and to engaging with the public on the 2019-2021 budget plan.
