Winter parking regulations vary, depending on where you live in the City of St. John's.

Snow Routes
Throughout the city from Dec. 1 to March 31 parking is prohibited 24 hours a day on streets designated as ‘No Parking Snow Route.’ These streets are marked with signs. Restrictions are in place so ice control and snow clearing equipment can safely service the streets.

Inside the Downtown Area
For streets in the designated downtown area, on street parking is permitted, unless a designated 'Snow Route', during the winter. However, these streets will be scheduled for snow removal as needed. Signs will be placed in snow banks on the day of removal to indicate that overnight parking is prohibited. To find out if your street is scheduled for overnight removal you can:

Outside the Downtown Area
The winter On-Street Parking Ban for streets outside the designated downtown area will come into effect at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, unless a designated 'Snow Route'.  The ban is in effect daily and tickets will be issued to vehicles parked on the street between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m., regardless of weather and street conditions. If there is significant snowfall before Jan. 3, this parking ban may be implemented earlier, notification will be provided in advance.
